Feature of the week
Meet Divya Elizabeth John
I was previously working in the compliance team of a management consulting firm, Alvarez & Marsal. However, I would sense a lack of purpose and connection to the work I did. Hence, I decided that I needed to take a step back and focus on what interested me rather than focus on what would make me money.
I have always been interested in a range of subjects such as public policy and development economics and hence decided to apply for the Graduate Certificate in Public Policy at Takshashila. The course really opened my mind to a range of subjects that I had no exposure to. I especially enjoyed the classes by Anupam Manur who took the course on Economic Reasoning for Public Policy. He taught the subject with infectious enthusiasm with applicable examples that one could relate to. Overall, the pedagogy of the course was well structured and engaging with quizzes and Bootcamps. I also got to meet and interacted with a bunch of public policy enthusiasts which was an absolute treat.
Post-Takshashika, I wanted to get into public policy and work with the government. I applied for the International Innovations Corps, a fellowship where one gets to work closely with the government on a major public policy/ developmental challenge. I reached the last stage but unfortunately, couldn’t make it through.
Currently, I’m working with GLG, an expert network company where we connect industry experts with clients so that the clients gain the knowledge and insight they need to inform their business decisions. I am currently leading the Social Impact Partners Program wherein we work closely with an NGO and connect them to GLG’s wide range of in-network experts based on the NGO’s learning needs. I personally feel it was Takshashila’s GCPP course that made me take a strong interest in matters of social justice and policy policy. I am currently very happy and feel an immense sense of purpose and meaning in the work I do.
Immensely grateful.
